Courage, Power, Passion: Women Have It All
Talk to American HR experts and they’ll confirm that the vast majority of executives are conflict-averse. Experts estimate the number of the avoidant in times of conflict to be about 80 percent. Notably, most of the HR professionals also agreed that American female executives are more courageous in approaching conflict than their male counterparts. But, women often lack the institutional authority to have the impact their male peers exercise. (Gus Lee, Courage, 2006).
If you are like the female executives and managers described above, then you are ready to improve your business with your natural abundance of courage, power and passion. But, you need the tools to enhance your reach in your organization. That’s where the Extreme Arts & Sciences team can help you. The Courage, Power, Passion program can help tip the managerial scale in your favor. This program is not designed to be a “sit and listen” experience, but instead is about thinking, speaking, learning, and engaging. A central tenet in the approach of Extreme Arts and Sciences is that real change demands clarity in goals - and the deep belief that what you are doing matters. Using a developmental learning model, our consultants will draw out the shared wisdom and concerns of women in business management and coach participants to optimize their leadership knowledge and effectiveness.
Specific Learner Outcomes * Gaining a Grounded Understanding of Critical Barriers for Women in Business Engaging in Courageous Conversations Identifying Personal and Professional Strengths for Optimal Performance Developing Advocacy and Opinion Leadership (for Internal Organization and Clients) Improving Visibility (Leadership Credibility & Effectiveness)
Process and Pedagogy The Courage, Power, Passion learning experience will call on participants to share professional experiences, engage with tough and believable hypothetical scenarios, and hone their leadership advocacy skills through presentations to their peers. The result will be a collective strengthening of their abilities, confidence, and willingness to successfully participate in leadership actions and conversations when the “real world” opportunity arises. In our program, we mix a variety of engaging learning sessions showcasing what Extreme Arts and Sciences does best. We specialize in developing rich, customized scenarios that typify the real world communication issues faced by real women. These scenarios will likely feature the challenges of engaging in persuasive and courageous conversations with people “up” the chain of command, as well as with peers, potential clients, and even volunteer community boards or projects in which women leaders may find leadership opportunities for positive change. Participants in our program will also explore Formal and Informal Power in their organizations and how an effective understanding of and use of power can motivate teams. There is plenty of time available for participants to share personal stories, challenges, and solutions.
By tapping into the wisdom that is already present in each of the women who participate in our Courage, Power, Passion program, Extreme Arts has been able to help empower women to make a difference in their businesses and their communities. Ask us how we can make magic in your organization!
