The Other Eleven
Armistice Day (November 11th) is ninety years old this year, and although most people nowadays refer to it as Veteran’s Day - the name was changed after World War II - we like to double-name it. Veterans deserve all honor and respect, but so too does the concept of armistice - the cessation of hostilities in order to find a path to peace. Even in office contexts, the notion of armistice has great value. In world affairs, it is perhaps the most powerful tool in the arsenal of diplomacy.
To honor both, we have put a very special poster in the store. One of founders was a retired Navy Seal, and our connection with the Seals extends into our pedagogical approach to interaction, our commitment to elite teams, and one of our favorite foundations - the Naval Special Warfare Foundation. From now until the end of the year, any purchase of this poster puts $5 in the pocket of the NSWF. It’s a great way to honor the courage and persistence of our military, and gives you something to put on a wall.
Hopefully the serene blues and malleability of the ocean will help to remind you that, in addition to bravery, sometimes a successful end to conflict requires a deep breath, and a stepping back. Where does armistice fit into your practice? How can it fit in more often?
