Bringing the horse to water.

I thought I’d post a brief, practical application of social media marketing today, because I myself was turned into a target as a result of this tweet, wherein I extol the virtues of seasonal milkshakes (it’s actually a caramel apple milkshake, but my tastebuds found it more a la mode than candy apple).

Lo and behold, over the weekend I got not one but two replies; the first from a marketer who’s paying attention to “burgerville” on Twitter, and the second from a service that appears to be paying attention to any tweet that uses the word “coupon.” So I was guaranteed to pay attention to the lovely coupon offer from Bugerville, currently running on Facebook:

Sweet Potato, Batman!

This is a quick and dirty way to get people into the store, even if you’re not engaging them on the platform that they originally used. Note that, independent of the coupon’s use (which you can track), users may follow the link to Facebook and become friends that way - this gives you a channel that you didn’t have before (which you can also track). Direct conversation and appropriate promotions follow, joy spreads in all directions.

Give it a try!
